Study Tour update

Study Tour update

Here you’ll find information about the study tour.

Destination: Russia
For this year’s study tour we’ve chosen to go to Russia: the country of vodka, Putin and the Red Square. But, naturally, Russia has much more to offer than just its famous vodka. As it is by far the biggest country in the world, issues concerning transportation and logistics makes it an interesting case study for the, well, somewhat smaller Netherlands. In and nearby the cities of St. Petersburg and Moscow, we will visit some fascinating companies who deal with the things we’re studying daily.

The date: 16 – 25 September 2010
Although our initial plan was to go just after our last exam-period, we’ve heard that this would be a bit problematic for some students. However, to ensure everybody will be able to go on this special trip, the date has been changed to 16 to 25 September 2010. In other words: the first week of the first semester of our next study year. We hope that now anybody will be able to go along!

Global planning
As the tour is in September only, no exact schedule is known yet. Nevertheless, we do have a general idea. Departure will be on Thursday September 16th, where we’ll fly to St. Petersburg. The upcoming days, one or two companies will be visited followed by a weekend of rest for cultural visits or shopping; that’s up to you. On Monday, we’ll visit another company before heading off to Moscow, where our official Trans Siberia adventure will take off. During the following (and last..) days, we’ll continue visiting some interesting companies nearby/in Moscow. But no worries: we’ll make sure there’s at least one day where you can explore Moscow on your own. And then, in the afternoon of September 25th, the Russian adventure stops and we’ll fly back to our beloved country.

Costs
Despite the fact that we’ll do our very best to find sponsors for this fantastic study tour, we’ll have to remark in advance that this will not be sufficient. Therefore, an individual contribution of 600 Euros maximum, depending on sponsorships, will be asked from those who wish to participate.
